Information Minister congratulates Advisor to HM King

Information Minister and Board of Trustees Chairman
of Bahrain Institute for Political Development Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi
congratulated Advisor to His Majesty the King for Media Affairs Nabil bin
Yaqoob Al Hamar on the Media Personality of the Year award which was
granted to him in the 17th edition of the Arab Media Forum in Dubai, the
UAE. Al Hamar was honoured today by the UAE Vice President, Prime
Minister and Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Information Minister described the prestigious Arab award as an honour
to all the Bahraini media and press community and a crowning to Bahrain’s
pioneering status as a model in freedom of press as well as media,
intellectual, cultural and civilisational progress in the prosperous era of His
Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He hailed the positive initiatives of the
Advisor to HM the King for Media Affairs and his honourable history as one of
the pioneers of Bahrain and the Arab media and press. He lauded Al
Hamar’s efforts in setting up the Gulf News Agency (currently Bahrain News
Agency), Al‑Ayam Press and Publishing in 1989, as well as his contribution
to founding Bahrain Journalists Association and developing the media,
telecommunication, cultural and art sectors when he took charge of the
Information Ministry.

Al Hamar was appointed Advisor to HM the King for Media Affairs in 2005
and took part in many GCC, Arab and international media functions.

The Information Minister underlined appreciation of all the ministry personnel
as well as the Bahraini press community of the honour, commending
keenness of Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on honouring the
outstanding and creative Arab personalities, which reflects the humanitarian
and civilisational role of the UAE in boosting pan‑Arab work and serving Arab
issues.
