The Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of media and information technology, along with a cooperation agreement between their national news agencies, on the sidelines of Bahrain’s participation as Guest of Honour at the 2025 Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, highlighted the strength of Bahrain-Russia relations and their continued development across various domains, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation.
The memorandum of understanding was signed between Bahrain’s Ministry of Information and the autonomous non-profit organisation TV-Novosti. It was signed by Abdullah Khalil Buheji, Director General of the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), and Maya Manna, Director of TV-Novosti.
A separate cooperation agreement was also signed between BNA and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency, the founder of the Russian media outlet RIA Novosti. It was signed by Director General Abdullah Khalil Buheji and Sergey Kochetkov, First Deputy Editor in Chief, on behalf of the Rossiya Segodnya.
Dr. Al Noaimi underlined the importance of such partnerships in advancing media cooperation and developing the media sectors in both countries.
He expressed confidence that these agreements would create new opportunities for collaboration, particularly as Bahrain and Russia celebrate 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
