Information Minister receives UN Assistant Sec-Gen, highlights Bahrain’s commitment to youth empowerment

Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, received Felipe Paullier, Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and Head of the United Nations Youth Office, in the presence of Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs.

The meeting came on the sidelines of Paullier’s visit to Bahrain to participate in the Hope Network, an initiative launched and hosted by Bahrain to support global youth competitiveness.

The Information Minister commended the efforts of the United Nations and its agencies in addressing pressing global issues, particularly those affecting youth.

He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to youth empowerment, driven by the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by the government, led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to invest in young people as a foundation to Bahrain’s progress.

The Information Minister commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, in supporting initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and creating a conducive environment for their societal engagement, which is vital to achieving sustainable development.

He also recognised the contributions of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), in fostering youth programmes that enhance their capabilities and prepare them for a promising future.

The Information Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Information, in line with Manama’s selection as the 2024 Capital of Arab Media, is committed to supporting initiatives that empower and inspire youth, fostering their creativity as a fundamental pillar for national development.

The minister applauded the Hope Network as a global platform initiated in Bahrain, noting its mission to unite countries committed to empowering youth to overcome challenges and realise their aspirations. He expressed optimism for the initiative’s continued success.

On his part, Felipe Paullier underscored the media’s vital role in spotlighting youth issues and serving as a channel for young voices and perspectives to reach a global audience. He expressed eagerness for continued collaboration with Bahrain in supporting pioneering youth initiatives.
