Prince Khalifa bin Salman Press Award registration opens

Romaihi praised the support of His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the
Prime Minister and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme
Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to the national Press role and
its contributions in enlightenment and community awareness and promoting
the developmental and civilizational accomplishments.

On the occasion of opening the door for journalists to participate in the
Khalifa bin Salman Award for the Press, the minister expressed the pride of
the press and media circle vis‑à‑vis HRH the Premier’s king patronage of
the third edition of the prize to be presented simultaneously with the festivities
marking Bahraini Press Day in May, that constitutes the culmination of the
patriotic role of the press and conspicuous sign of His Royal Highness’s
constant support to press and media freedoms.

Al Romaihi expressed his sincere appreciation and welcoming of the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia as the Guest of Honour at the Khalifa bin Salman Award for
the Press in its third edition. This is the first time a guest of honour has been

chosen since it was launched, which mirrors the genuine deep‑rooted and
close fraternal bonds between the two brotherly countries and people and
Saudi Arabia’s excellence in the field of journalism and the media as the role
model to be emulated for cooperation among the brethren, that derives its
strength components from the shared history, religion, language, kinship and
common destination.

The minister urged all local newspaper and magazine staff to compete for this
prestigious prize which will be awarded in honour of the best journalism
works published during 2017. Columnists, investigative reporters, interview
will be considered in the political, economic, sports and cultural fields.

The minister asserted that the Press corps yearly are honoured with this
precious prize which bears the name of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa
bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and the patron of the press and
journalists, allocated in appreciation of the free, honest word and the role
undertaken by the press in enlightenment of the community and serving the
nation and its issues.

The Ministry of Information Affairs announced opening the door to participate
in the Prince Khalifa bin Salman Award for the Press, and remains open until
April 20.

All press establishments and journalists in local dailies, weeklies, or
periodicals in the King in Arabic or English may compete for the prize
provided that their works were only published in 2017.

The prize falls into the following categories: best opinion column, best
investigation, best dialogue and best photojournalism classes in all fields. The
works will be sorted out and selected by the award’s arbitration panel.

The Ministry of Information Affairs added that any journalist or news
establishment has the right to register five participations within each section
of the award. Works previously reject in local competitions or previously
winning works in any Gulf or Arab award will be disqualified. Applicants shall
bear full responsibility for their submitted works.

The Organizers do not bear any legal or professional responsibility in the
event a work violated the professional norms. The ministry called to email the

The name of publication, date of publishing and page on which it was
published should be stated and the category of prize specified as well as the
personal particulars of the applicant.
