BNA, ANSA sign MoU for cooperation, news exchange

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) and the Italian news agency ANSA (Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation and news exchange.

Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Information Minister, Paola Amadei the Italian Ambassador to Bahrain, Abdulla Khalil Buhejji, BNA Director-General, and Stefano De Alessandri, ANSA Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, attended the signing ceremony, held via videoconferencing.

Commenting, the Information Minister indicated that the signing of the MoU is within the framework of the strong Bahrain-Italy relations, which are growing steadily thanks to the two countries’ shared keenness to constantly develop their friendship ties.

Dr. Al Noaimi noted the development of the Italian media sector at all levels, expressing hope that media cooperation between the two countries will succeed, based on their mutual desire to avail of each other’s distinguished media capabilities.

The Minister of Information said that ANSA is among the leading international news agencies, thanks to its long media history, and high professionalism in reporting and transmitting news stories.

Ambassador Amadei expressed delight at the signing of the MoU, lauding the Bahraini-Italian relations, which are progressing thanks to the two countries’ strong historical relations, as well as mutual understanding and joint coordination vis-à-vis many regional and global issues.

The envoy commended the Information Ministry’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Italian media institutions, expressing confidence that media cooperation would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations further.

BNA Director-General expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Information Minister for his constant support for the Bahrain News Agency, hailing his keenness to enhance its role as the main tributary of national media.

Buhejji indicated that the signing of an MoU with ANSA is within the framework of BNA’s keenness to develop its cooperation with prestigious international news agencies, including ANSA, in light of the distinction and development of the Bahraini-Italian relations at all levels, adding that the MoU will open up wider horizons for media cooperation between the two countries.

Stefano De Alessandri welcomed ANSA’s cooperation with the BNA, stressing that the MoU provides a good opportunity to enhance various aspects of news exchange between the two sides, especially in light of the rapid development of the media sector.

Talal Faisal Al Hamar, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Bahraini Embassy to Italy, also attended the signing ceremony.
