BNA Director General attends Arab Information Ministers meetings

Abdulla Khalil Buhejji, the Director-General of Bahrain News Agency (BNA), represented the Ministry of Information at the 18th session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held in the Libyan city of Tripoli.

The meetings discussed mechanisms of media support for the Palestinian cause in light of the current developments, as well as the decisions issued by the 53rd session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers on the role of Arab media in combating terrorism after upgrading the related strategy.

The meetings reviewed the executive plan for media activities and events of Manama,the Capital of Arab Media 2024 in Bahrain.

The executive procedures for launching the observatory and integrated platform in Morocco, as well as the media roadmap for sustainable development 2030, were also discussed.

The meetings also reviewed recommendations for a unified strategy to engage with international media companies; and explored proposals for environmental and educational media advancement, enhancement of women’s prescence and representation in media, and encouragement of quality performance and capacity building, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.

The procedures of the establishment of the Arab Institute for Peace Journalism in Libya were finalised during the meetings

Other topics discussed included the General Secretariat’s proposal on the inclusion of media during election times in the Arab Media Code of Honor, and the media excellence award for 2024 which will focus on media management during times of crises.
