National Action Charter Monument hosts ‘Light and Charter’ event

The National Action Charter (NAC) Monument hosted an event themed “Light and Charter”, marking NAC’s 23rd anniversary.

The event featured a panel discussed on the role of the National Action Charter in advancing Bahraini women in which Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa, Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), participated.

Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Noaimi, Public Affairs Minister at the Royal Court, and Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Information Minister, in addition to scores of officials and university students were present.

The Public Affairs Minister at the Royal Court delivered a statement in which he lauded the wide-ranging achievements attained during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era, noting that the National Action Charter Monument, which was established as per a royal initiative, embodies the kingdom’s national memory and glorious history.

He asserted that the Monument’s sections contribute to promoting Bahrain’s deep-rooted and authentic values, paying tribute to the Information Ministry and all the organisers of the event aimed at commemorating the adoption of NAC by an overwhelming popular majority.

The Information Minister extended deepest congratulations to HM King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the NAC anniversary.

Dr. Al Noaimi also congratulated the Bahraini people on the national occasion, noting that the NAC, launched by HM the King and approved by an unprecedented popular consensus, paved the way for launching the kingdom’s comprehensive development process, whose fruits are reaped by all those living in Bahrain.

Dr. Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan, while addressing the session, focused on the Bahraini women’s advancement strides, under the National Action Charter.

The event also featured another discussion session on the role of National Charter in consolidating the freedom of opinion and expression.

Journalist Mohammed Al Mahmeed, and Dr. Lullwa Bu Dulama, the Media Afairs Advisor at the Information Ministry, spoke during the session. They asserted that responsible freedom of opinion and expression is the cornerstone of the National Action Charter and its fundamentals. They also praised the kingdom’s press and media achievements during HM the King’s prosperous era, noting that the designation of Manama as the Capital of Arab Media in 2024 proves the kingdom’s prominent regional and global role in this field.

A documentary film, produced by the Information Ministry marking the historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis, and His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif to the kingdom at the invitation of HM King Hamad, was screened.

Then, the attendees toured the NAC’s main exhibition gallery which highlights Bahrain’s present and future aspirations, using interactive devices. They were also informed about the original document of the National Action Charter. They also viewed the monument’s inner-walls which are adorned with scripture from the Quran, and quotes from HM the King’s statements.

They also visited the Monument’s main sections, including the “Bahrain Pearl of the Gulf” exhibition, where they were informed about Bahrain’s civilisations through history, and the location of famous springs in Bahrain, in addition to the “Palm Whispers”, where they learnt about the palm tree and its benefits.

While vising the “Gate of the World” exhibition, they were informed about the ships made by Bahrainis since ancient times, proving the kingdom’s historical role as a hub for international trade and commerce.

The attendees also visited the “Islam and Tolerance” exhibition, showcasing the freedom of religion and religious tolerance prevailing in Bahrain, and the “Prosperity” hall, highlighting the achievements of Bahrain’s rulers, from the late HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, until HM King Hamad’s prosperous era, as well as their wills to their crown princes, proving their interest in authentic Arab and Islamic values, and commitment to achieving progress for the citizens.

The visitors also watched the “Flag” film which focuses on the authentic values adhered by Bahrainis.

They also visited the “Treasures of the Sea” exhibit, providing insight into Bahrain’s rich maritime heritage and culture, the “Flames of Industry”, focusing on Bahrain’s industrial advances of Bahrain, the “Bridge of Light”, highlighting the evolution of democracy in Bahrain and women’s achievements, in addition to the “Bahrain Today” exhibition, focusing on Manama’s development stages, as well as Bahrain’s strides in Various fields, including the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education.

The participants were also informed about the “Golden Palm” model, containing inspirational phrases from Bahrain’s schools about their vision for the future, engraved on the frond of the palm tree.

They were also informed about a photo of HM the King planting a seedling, and affirming that the “Bahraini Palm Tree” is a symbol of national unity and dedication.

The audience were also informed about a golden capsule containing a message by HM the King to the people of Bahrain, on which the Quranic verse (And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided) was written.

The attendees expressed their admiration for the NAC’s distinguished exhibitions and halls that reflect the kingdom’s rich history and prosperous future, noting that the use of interactive devices provides visitors with important information about Bahrain’s history and authentic values.

They also expressed delight at seeing the names of Bahrainis who voted for the NAC engraved on the Monument’s walls.

The “Light and Charter” event is a national event organised by the Information Ministry in partnership with the National Action Charter, the SCW, the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), the University of Bahrain and the Higher Education Council. It sheds light on the stages of the adoption of the National Action Charter and the kingdom’s achievements under it (NAC).
