Information Minister receives heads of Gulf press associations

Information Minister Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Alnoaimi today received heads of Gulf press associations, currently on visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and commended their efforts to develop the press.

He said that such coordination meetings held in Bahrain reflect the Kingdom’s vision, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, backing efforts aimed to unify the Gulf media discourse.

He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to support the Gulf Press Union to assumed its pivotal role, develop its work which would contribute to furthering GCC historic relations.

The meeting which was held in the presence of Saudi Journalists Association Chairman Khalid Al Malik, was also attended by Bahrain Journalists Association Chairman Isa Al Shaiji, UAE Journalists Association Chairman Mohammed Al Hammadi, Kuwait Journalists Association Chairman Adnan Al Rashid and Oman Journalists Association Chairman Dr. Mohammed Al Araimi.

Proposals to amend the statute of the Gulf Press Union, and set future amendments and procedures that contribute to developing the work of the union, and strengthening its role at the regional and international levels were also discussed.

Bahrain’s support to the Gulf press, and active contributions to the development of the work of the union were also commended during the meeting.

The attendees thanked Bahrain for hosting the headquarters of the Gulf Press Union, as well as its efforts since the founding of the union in 2005, in a way that achieves the common aspirations of the press body in the GCC countries.
