Bahrain Radio celebrates 85 years of broadcasting

Manama, Nov. 3 (BNA): Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, said that the 85th anniversary of Bahrain Radio marks a national milestone reflecting the Kingdom’s pioneering contribution to regional broadcasting and its continued commitment to professional, purposeful media.

The Minister noted that the launch of Bahrain Radio on November 4, 1940, was a landmark moment in the Kingdom’s media history, carrying the Kingdom’s voice to the world and expressing the values, aspirations, and identity of Bahraini society.

Dr. Al Noaimi added that the station continues to serve as a cornerstone of Bahrain’s media landscape, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to modernise national media and highlight the Kingdom’s development progress.

Additionally, Dr. Al Noaimi emphasised that over eight decades, Bahrain’s radio broadcasting has advanced significantly in both content and form, evolving into an institutional model rooted in professionalism and innovation while maintaining its distinct national identity.

He also highlighted the Ministry of Information’s ongoing efforts to develop the radio sector by empowering and training national talent, adopting advanced technologies, and delivering purposeful content that reflects Bahrain’s digital transformation and aspirations for a modern, influential media sector.

The Minister paid tribute to Bahraini media professionals whose contributions have enriched the nation’s broadcasting legacy across generations, noting the Ministry’s commitment to preserving and documenting this heritage as part of Bahrain’s leading role as a regional hub for creativity and excellence.

Dr. Al Noaimi emphasised that Bahrain Radio will continue to serve as a vital national platform, conveying the Kingdom’s noble message to the world and reflecting, with professionalism and integrity, the Kingdom’s outstanding developmental and civilizational achievements under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
